Rotary Club of Festival City Stratford and Rotary Club of Ajijic A.C. have a joint project and plans in place, to give medical care to the local people living in the hills around Lake Chapala in Mexico this November.
This 12 day trip takes a total of 24 volunteers. On a medical team, we have physicians, nurses, a pharmacist and pharmacy assistant or technician, physiotherapist, respiratory therapist, as well as others to complete the team services. Services often include:
  • Health and Hygiene teaching
  • Fluoride dental treatments for children 5 to 14
  • Reading glasses for those with close vision deficit
  • Full medical assessments by RNs, RPNs and Doctors
  • Limited lab support of urinalysis
  • Blood glucose
  • Pregnancy tests
  • Hemoglobin (red cell count) tests
  • Full Pharmacy
  • Depending on the need, we may also include HIV/AIDS testing and PAP smear testing by local staff.
In addition to the above, we have volunteers to register patients, crowd control and moving patients from service to service. It would be wonderful to recruit a Dentist and also an Optometrist!
While most of our team is in place, we could still use a doctor. If you, or anyone you think might be interested in joining us, let them know asap. Jean Aitcheson is working hard this week to get all the documentation needed to fly out November 2. We will fly to Guadalajara, stay in a local hotel, and move as a group in a bus. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask!

Yours in mission outreach,
Jean Aitcheson
