Having sent medical supplies to this area through the Lakeside Association and Firefighters without boarders, a Rotary connection was made and they requested the team support the people of Mexico.

Why did you decide to join Lake Chapala Medical Mission?
Jean squashed concerns Linda had about travel. In other missions Linda has been on she heard gun shots in the streets and was concerned about Mexico. "But when you travel in such a large group you feel safe" Her and Bob have been studying Spanish for two years now and they are looking forward to trying out their Spanish, meeting people, exploring the mountains, learning about the agriculture and trying new food.

Charlene wanted the opportunity to share the experiences with her daughter Julie. Jean also mentioned that this might be her last mission, and she wanted to enjoy another adventure on Jean's team, though she doesn't believe that this will be Jean's last ;)

Malory wanted to join Jean on another mission, in part, to carry on family tradition. Mallory's Opal has gone on over 30 missions with Jean and helped build the shelves in the Stratford warehouse, where supplies are stored year round, before teams head out.

Why did you decide to join Lake Chapala Medical Mission?
Jean talked her into being part of the mission as a pediatric nurse. Jaimie has travelled with Jean in Dominican. Just getting back after Thanksgiving from Haiti during hurricane, Jaimie say a lot of devastation. The area she was in lost a lot of trees and the orphanage had trees hit the building, but luckily they were on the mountain so most of the water rolled down the mountain side away from them.

Jean talked her into it. Marian and Jean went on the Philippines mission together and found that they had a lot in common. They are both experienced nurses with similar background, and they hit it it off right away! Marian admires the organization and mission work was always a retirement goal. She is looking forward to getting to know the people and their culture.

Linda and Bob are Mary Lou's neighbours. They are all taking a Spanish class together and Linda asked if she would like to come. Mary Lou is looking forward to EVERYTHING and is curious about the quality of life with no money, the live in Mexico outside of what tourists see.

Jaimie invited Alanna to join the team. Fresh out of school, she had little funds and was concerned about moving forward with her career. Alanna prayed on it and felt that missions like this, are why she went into nursing. "To impact at home and internationally"
