L’Arche Stratford’s Building Campaign

L’Arche Stratford purchased the former Montessori School at 426 Britannia Street in 2017.  Offering 20,000 sf of space over three levels, this new-to-us building – when renovated - will enable L’Arche Stratford to provide six accessible suites for individuals with and without intellectual disabilities who will follow the L’Arche model of inclusive living.  426 Britannia Street will also provide badly needed activity and programming spaces for disabled individuals seeking to use ‘Passport’ dollars for training and social interaction.  Finally, the building will address L’Arche Stratford’s currently cramped administrative office needs.  In fact, we will be able to lease office and meeting rooms to other not-for-profit groups - which will provide a service to them while creating an income stream to assist with L’Arche Stratford’s sustainability. 

L’Arche Stratford is now reaching out to supporters for assistance in undertaking the $4.2 million Building Campaign to renovate 426 Britannia Street.  In planning the renovations, here is what L’Arche discovered:

• The six new suites on the top floor of 426 Britannia Street will increase L’Arche Stratford’s current housing capacity by 25%.
• The waitlist for individuals seeking social and recreation activities through Passports will decrease by 58%.
• Renovated gymnasium and activity room spaces will allow more people with intellectual disabilities, their families, and members of the community-at-large to become connected to L’Arche.
• L’Arche’s ability to provide respite supports will be significantly enhanced.
