An amazing example of Rotary International clubs and members acting quickly and working together to save lives across the globe.

The following is a letter received from the Rotary Club of Grand Bend:

Hello to all
On behalf of the Rotary Club of Grand Bend I wanted to say thank you for the material that you donated for the container to Mozambique. 10 volunteers loaded the 40’ sea container yesterday and it is on its way to assist the survivors of the tropical Cyclone Idai which struckMozambique in March.

We loaded everything we had which included
-       21000 lb of dehydrated vegetable soup mix from Ontario Christian Gleaners (approx 700,000 servings)
-       20000 lb of red kidney beans from Ferguson Bros. of St Thomas
-       170 boxes of medical gloves, isolation gowns and masks from Warehouse of Hope in St. Catherines
-       150 boxes of misc. medical supplies from Jean Aitcheson’s Stratford Depot
-       600 layette kits for new mothers from Westover Ladies in Cambridge
-       240 women’s menstrual kits from HUGS in Exeter
-       150 milk bag mats from Living Hope Reformed Church in Sarnia

The $9000 funding for the shipping and the purchase of the container came from 9 different Rotary Clubs in the area and from private donations. It will arrive in Mozambique in July and will be distributed by the Rotary Club of Chimoio Mozambique in one of the areas hardest hit.  Thank you again for your generosity and helping to make a real difference. Please see some pictures below.
Yours in service,
Brian
